Welcome to Shirdley Hill Karate Club. Established 1977
Hi everyone, my name is Reiner M Parsons, I hold a 7th Dan in Goju Ryu Karate-do, a 4th Dan in Kobudo and a 2nd Dan in Jujitsu. At 69, I am still very enthusiastic and passionate about the martial arts and still learning new techniques, improving on the ones I already know and more importantly enjoying it and passing my knowledge on to my students.
I have always led an active life in sports, I started with running (up to 10 miles a day) at boarding school and Walton Athletics Club, then I got my first taste of combat sports by starting boxing were I had 13 fights (12 wins and 1 loss). I first got the taste of the martial arts in 1960 by learning Judo, this interest lasted 2 years but stopped because of an injury and marriage.
I rediscovered my interest in the martial arts in 1974 by learning Karate, training with such instructors as Tony Christian, Bob Greenhalgh, Dennis Martin and Gary Spiers. In 1977 I started teaching Goju Ryu Karate-do at the YMCA in Mount Pleasent in Liverpool for 17 years. Unfortunately this sadly had to end when I had to leave Liverpool to work in Germany. Once there I immediately went to work on establishing a dojo in Germany and still have students there. I was also regional director for IMAF in Germany and England. I am currently technical director for TEMAA.
The style of Goju Ryu karate I study and teach students is called Nisseikai. It is a very traditional form of Goju Ryu Karate going back to the origins of Naha Te by including the teachings of Taiwanese White Crane as taught by Tadanori Nobetsu 9th Dan who studied White Crane under Chin Mei Long. My guidance in this form of karate has been under the tutelage of Hanshi Tadanori Nobetsu himself who awarded me my 5th Dan. I was awarded my 6th Dan by by Shoto Ryu master Ikuo Higuchi.
I teach karate from a syllabus designed from the traditional methods which enables students to defend themselves in the true traditional karate way as learned and taught by the original masters of Karate-do.
The aim of my teaching is:

The aim of my teaching is:
- first to have fun,
- second to increase your confidence, then the realisation that you can defend yourself.
- third you learn to bring out your inner strength of mind and body
